COBOTS collaborative applications

Cobots or collaborative robots differ from traditional industrial robots in a key point: they allow robots and humans to work together.

These next-generation robots are characterised by being light, flexible and integrated with humans in manufacturing environments, without physical safety restrictions such as barriers or restricted areas.

They are extremely adaptable when it comes to automating manual tasks, and unlike traditional industrial robots, they are excellent in terms of accessibility. Because their energy consumption is low and their utilisation minimizes infrastructure or security costs, they provide a rapid return on investment for both large industries and small and medium-sized businesses.

In Orbita Ingenieria we analyse with the customer the production process and identify all aspects of the project that we consider relevant to the choice of cobot type:
  • Scope
  • Weight of grouser
  • Applied forces
  • Type of task to execute
We work with the leading robotics manufacturers on the market, allowing us to choose from a wide range of models according to the required application, always ensuring quality in our projects.

We work with the leading robotics manufacturers on the market, allowing us to choose from a wide range of models according to the required application, always ensuring quality in our projects.

We offer our own multidisciplinary solution that includes electrical, programming, mechanical and computer engineering for an integral result aligned with the project objective. Below are some important points in our methodology:

  • We perform a feasibility study according to ISO/TS 15066 safety standards. We comply with this standard to consolidate one of the most important aspects in collaborative robots: the safe interaction with people.
  • We design the cobot grousers with a project-specific design, meeting the appropriate conditions of pressure and force applied to the human body, safety settings for force limitation, speed, maximum robot power, space required, maximum dimensions and other design criteria.
  • We carry out a simulation process, which allows us to validate cycle times and thus avoid problems of axis singularity in the trajectories.
  • We conduct real-world off-site testing at our facilities – Factory Acceptance Tests – to ensure project success and minimize customer start-up times.
